Robinia or acacia (Robinia Pseudoacacia L. ), is a shrub or tree-like plant, belonging to the leguminous family, which can reach a height of 20 metres.
It was imported to Europe from North America in the early 17th century by Jean Robin, herbalist to King Henry IV of France, from whom it took its name. In Italy it appeared at the end of the 18th century, first as an ornamental plant, then to firm up the soil and embankments of roads and railways.
